Quilting has been a wonderful part of my life for over thirty years. It has eased my work in nursing by allowing me a creative outlet from a difficult and draining career. Quilting has allowed me to venture beyond the structure and regulations of my second career in clinical pharmacology research. And now in my third career as a professional quilt designer, instructor and artist, I am leaping forward to the freedom of design and concept.

The transition to art quilts and design in fiber has been exciting. No more patterns, no more rules. imagination and curiosity are my muses. I feel incredibly liberated knowing all my efforts are exploratory, without the judgment of right or wrong. In this life, "do-overs" are joyfully allowed!

I feel like a child seeing the world with new eyes. I see color, design and pattern everywhere I turn, boldly showing, or quietly hiding within a larger design, just waiting to be discovered. Curiosity allows me to see images as both feelings and reality waiting to be manipulated and interpreted in fiber. Colors and textures are life's little treasures.

My design style is evolving and expanding, and eclectic is a good description. My process is heavily weighted toward exploration and review of details. It fascinates me to analyze a visual to see what defines all its parts, to take it apart mentally, then reconstruct it into its original, actual design or develop it into my own perception of reality.
